Community Green opens at the heart of Maple Grove

At the centre of Maple Grove a stunning new green space has been unveiled, helping to bring nature a little closer to the residents of Maple Grove and the local community.

The Community Green is a new public access area to relax and enjoy, bringing a natural extension to the riverside pathway along the banks of the River Wandle.

The striking centrepiece is a mature London Plane tree surrounded by an open lawn with seating set into ornamental planting.

It’s the perfect place to get to know neighbours, catch up with friends or sit and relax on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Maple Grove has seen many existing trees retained as part of the development, including Wild Cherry, Maple species, Silver Birch, and Horse Chestnut, helping the new homes and their residents to quickly settle into their new surroundings.

As part of the improvements to the Wandle Trail, a range of native tree and wetland plant species are being planted, with steps down to timber decks to provide access to the river and seating provided.

Click here to find out more about the Wandle Trail, a fantastic, mainly traffic-free, route for pedestrians and cyclists that follows the River Wandle from its mouth with the River Thames in Wandsworth, through three boroughs to Croydon.
