Back to School at Maple Grove
Future generations can count on the best possible start at Maple Grove, with a choice of recognisably excellent private and state education locally for all ages, including some of the best performing grammar schools in the country.
With location also an important factor as well as the excellent quality of schooling, Maple Grove provides both in equal measure. As a result we’re delighted to highlight an Ofsted Outsanding nursery and two primary schools all within a 10 minute walk, ensuring that early year’s education is the very best you can receive in the local area.
Spencer Nursery School – 3 months to 4 years
Spencer Road, Mitcham Junction, Mitcham CR4 4JP
Just ten minutes’ walk will find you at the doorstep of Spencer Nursery School, catering for youngsters from three months to four years of age. The nursery has been a mainstay of Hackbridge since 1946.
A major feature of the provision for children is a programme meeting the particular individual needs of children by supporting their emotional, social and intellectual development within a very caring, supportive and stimulating environment.
Hackbridge Primary School – 5 to 11 years including Nursery
Hackbridge Road, Wallington, Croydon SM6 7AX
A stone’s throw away from Maple Grove is Hackbridge Primary School, a popular school with a nursery that has been at the heart of the community for over 100 years.
Future demand is being met in the form of an innovative expansion to the existing school, with plans to develop the school’s intake to a 4-form of entry school (four classes per year), providing 210 additional places from Reception to Year 6, plus a new 30-hour nursery class.
The new extension will open in September 2018, with an intake of 26 Nursery and 30 Reception pupils, and will continue to expand until all year groups are filled at the new site by 2024.
It will be a highly sustainable environment to learn in, and an environment to learn from. The new school will be built to carbon neutral, Passivhaus Plus specifications and will be the first school in the country to adopt the design. Moreover, the school will integrate learning about sustainability by growing food, supporting active travel, reducing energy and waste and providing well-designed environments for outdoor learning and play.
Culvers House Primary School – 5 to 11 years including Nursery
Orchard Ave, Mitcham, Wallington, Croydon CR4 4JH

As an inclusive, community school they truly believe that every child deserves the best possible education in a supportive and challenging setting with their motto ‘Be The Best You Can Be’.
